Analysis and studies

The European Union is determined to evaluate the impact of its Triangular Cooperation strategy with Latin America and the Caribbean, and to analyse how to enhance its added value through technical studies and analysis of sectoral and intersectoral public policies.

To this end, the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) will be consulted for its expertise, as the main think-tank and expert institution in the field of South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Latin America. This partnership has set a precedent with the project Innovative Triangular Cooperation for a New Development Agenda, which aims to contribute to the establishment of an innovative model of Triangular Cooperation (TC) between the two regions that, aligned with the 2030 Agenda, facilitates more and better Triangular Cooperation.

About SEGIB

This international organization provides support to the 22 countries that comprise the Ibero-American Community. Among its objectives, SEGIB facilitates the work of its member countries, providing operational guidance for the management of South-South and Triangular Cooperation.

Since 2007, SEGIB has been responsible for producing the Annual Report on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Ibero-America. The systematisation of all this information, with more than 9,000 initiatives, has resulted in a substantial knowledge base. Worth noting is the in-depth analysis conducted by SEGIB over the past three years, examining the linkage between both South-South and Triangular Cooperation and the SDGs. In addition, this experience has provided a space for conceptual and policy discussion on South-South and Triangular Cooperation in the region, enabling SEGIB to become a prominent player in the field, unique in its regional leadership model and a recognized authority in this sense.
