2021 Window: 15 Triangular Cooperation Initiatives underway

From the opening of the 2021 Window on May 24th to its closing nearly a month later, 26 proposals were submitted by Triangular Cooperation Partnerships under the concept note format.

After evaluation by the central departments of DG INTPA and the relevant European Union Delegations, 17 proposals were selected for the formulation stage. Of these, following a new assessment, 15 were approved throughout the month of August. Thanks to the 'rapid response' approach, they were able to immediately begin the implementation phase.

The 15 ongoing Initiatives consist of 83 entities of different types, from 17 countries in Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean, and contribute to 14 Sustainable Development Goals, with a special focus on SDG 8 (Decent work and Economic growth).

94 activities are planned for the upcoming months (workshops, seminars, congresses, consultancies, study visits, internships, courses, studies...), with online, face-to-face and hybrid activities, in which hundreds of people representing the Partnerships will participate, including the leading organisations from different fields and the final beneficiaries, among others.

The most relevant data from this first phase of the 2021 Window will be published shortly, along with a mini-site for each of the Initiatives. In turn, information will be provided on the activities, especially those open to the general public, and the main products and materials will be published.

We at the ADELANTE Triangular Cooperation Window European Union - Latin America and the Caribbean 2021-2024 are very positive about the formulation phase of this first edition, in which all the actors involved have done an excellent job, and we have all learned a little more about Triangular Cooperation. Worth noting is the interesting and innovative exercise of 'joint formulation' between the applicant entities, the other member entities of the Partnerships and the ADELANTE Team. Thanks to this, the foundations have been laid so that the approved Initiatives can be implemented with a high level of quality and achieve their objectives, thus consolidating Triangular Cooperation as a modality and contributing to the 2030 Agenda.
